I stayed here last July. Attempted to leave a review then but had a google fail, just found it again so doing so now.
I've tried to think of any way in which Kayla at reception could have been more helpful, and I've drawn a blank. She's fantastic. So putting it out there publicly.
As for the hotel, not sure why it comes up on Google Maps as "unfussy hotel with dining and free wifi". I think that may be meant for the Isa Hotel next door (which is owned by the same people). It's the most upmarket hotel in Mount Isa by a very long way. I booked it as I needed a hotel room with a desk to work at for a week while waiting for the NT border to open, I had no idea it was going to be so pleasant. The rooms are huge, furnished and decorated in an attempt at 30s style and comfort. Extremely comfortable bed, great bathrooms, and the restaurant downstairs is fine dining of capital city standards. I only went there once on my last night, had a long chat with the excellent chef, had I known it was going to be so good I would have gone more.
It's not flawless (tip to the maintenance guy: don't ruin the ambience of the beautiful luxury rooms by randomly replacing blown bulbs with cheap cool white light bulbs, they're meant for garages, you should be using warm white and you should be using the same type of bulb and colour temperature throughout not mix & match; & tip to whoever sets up the TVs, google "soap opera effect" then get rid of it, it's unwatchable), and make sure you get a room with a balcony, but it's the most luxurious place to stay within about a thousand kilometres in any direction, and if I'm back in Mount Isa again I know where I'll be heading.
Lovely hotel in central location in Mt Isa. Friendly staff and nice rooms. A little dated, but clean and everything is at hand. Lost my tablet charger in one of the rooms and they have kindly sent it back to my home address, great customer service!
Redearth is in the centre of Mount Isa - a good thing in the daytime. The food was plentiful and delicious for dinner and breakfast. Pleasant surroundings. Laundry facilities available. However, the adjoining pub attracts a boisterous crowd in the evening. That extended to 2:30pm on our second night there
